This chapter has provided an overview of the approach to Hackystat collection and analysis of software engineering product and process information in the context of Java and Ant-based development.
As this chapter illustrated, the Java development community is fortunate to have a large number of interesting and useful open source analysis systems for Java programs, such as Checkstyle, FindBugs, and PMD. This chapter also illustrated that some useful tools for Java developers, such as SCLC, Jira, and Subversion, aren't specific to Java at all.
Finally, this chapter just scratches the surface of the analyses that are potentially available to you once you have collected your data. We hope that this is sufficient to get you started, and encourage you to help us better understand your needs so that Hackystat can become ever more useful to the Java community.
