4.22. Analysis: Software Project Telemetry

The Daily Diary and Daily Project Details analysis are both "snapshot" analyses: they show a perspective on the sensor data for a single day at a time. Software Project Telemetry is an alternative analysis that enables you to see trends in the data over time. There are many, many different possible telemetry charts that can be displayed for your metric data.

Figure 4.36, “ Active Time telemetry stream for StackyHack ” illustrates one very simple telemetry chart, which shows the cumulative Active Time devoted to editing the files in the StackyHack system over a period of one week in March, 2006.

Telemetry can be applied to both individual and groups of sensor data streams, and allow you to combine and compare both process and product metrics. For more details on Telemetry, please see the User Guide chapter.
