To obtain HackyInstaller, you go to the Help page of your Hackystat server and download the file "hackyInstaller.jar". Figure 2.1, “ Server Help Page with link to hackyInstaller.jar ” illustrates the Hackystat server help page with the link to hackyInstaller.jar. In most browsers, you can right-click on this link to save the file to some location on your computer.
Once you've downloaded the software, you have a choice of invoking either HackyInstaller's graphical user interface (GUI) or its command line interface (CLI). The GUI is somewhat easier to understand and manipulate, particularly for first-time users, although both interfaces have equivalent functionality. The CLI is designed for those who want to build scripts to automate the Hackystat sensor installation and update process. The next several sections of this chapter document HackyInstaller's GUI, followed by documentation of its CLI.
